I’ve broken the eighties and broken into to the seventies (Kg)!

weightlossTo follow up on the previous post: I have lost a lot of weight by counting calories, eating healthy and as organic as possible. Still being able to have a beer, glass of wine and have very much what everybody else eats. Just not as much. And all of this with out exercise! Not because I’ve been lazy but because of the surgeries mentioned lots of times before. So really by watching TV and chillin on the couch.

I have tried for years losing weight. Spinning, running, diets you name it and when it came down to it I would get bored or the results just came too slow. But I found my way and that’s through portions and with the help of madlog.dk (foodlog)! It’s a calorie counter tool with a database of almost every food and drink product in the Danish market. It’s not a miracle worker where you sign up and that’s that. Half of all diets is always selfdisciplin. So 5 jeans size later and the need for a new closet I’m definitely quite chuffed with myself!

Ps: I’m still 5-6 Kg from my goal and I’m slowly starting to workout to get my legs up to speed and the rest of my body in shape!

I’m officially no longer overweight!

weight-lossAccording to the BMI, i’m no longer overweight! After being in the wrong zone and even being close to obese, I’ve finally made it to the healthy weight zone! Since the first of January I’ve been keeping an eye on my calories and without any exercise (I can’t because of the surgeries), I’ve 14 weeks later lost 14 kg/2,2 st/31 lbs! Hey, even went 4 sizes down in jeans size. Feeling great about myself!

The Patient part 2 – The ankle

the-ankle_edited-11

Came home late Wednesday evening from Mallorca at 2330 h, just to wake up the next morning to be shipped off for surgery at Gildhoej. This time it was my ankle that needed fixing. They first thought it was my Peroneus Brevis that snapped but it was another tendon that had snapped and the Peroneus Longus and Brevis had been flattened. Any way, I went in to surgery at about 1100 h and first woke up at 1430 h. They were perfect at the hospital and I got to rest. For the next 6 weeks, every Monday, I have to go for a check up. So for the next 6 weeks I’m on crutches (we’ll see about that) and in 4 months time I’ll be back on my feet 100%. If you want to see how they cut me look at this previous post here.

Surgery again!

red-kopiMonday I was at the hospital for another check up and an ultrasound regarding my left ankle and my shoulder. And guess what? I’ve torn my peronius brevis tendon! For a picture of where they open up look here (WARNING! Do not look here if you easily get sick. And my ankle is worse off, the tendon in the picture is split and mine is torn). And my shoulder they still can’t figure out what is wrong with, so maybe they’ll just cut it open to have a peak! It’s all for the best. Better get it fixed now, than limping around after two kids in the future. I’m getting ready for them!

The Patient – I thought it was because of the fatness!

I was operated on last week. The doctor thought my meniscus was bust but sadly found out that I was missing a lot of chondrogen (the chemical word in English, in DK it’s “brusk”). So that means a lot of rest and no more running and basketball. Great! I’m a cripple, LOL!

All these years (6, since 2002) I though it was because of me gaining weight (23K since i stopped playing basketball). But no, I’ve been running around with this injury for 6 years. What the hell, as long as I’m in tune with my body again and know what’s ticking. The disturbing part of my anatomy is that in the new year there going to scan my sore ancle and shoulder for injuries as well.

Another thing is the system. I have a super health insurance (private throught work) and from the day i was examined until I was operated it took only 3 days! I’m all for the public system with free health plans etc. But if I had gone through our public system I could have waited 2-6 months for an operation not to mention the time it would take to check my ancle and my shoulder. And with us expecting nr. 2 in 6 months time it was just not happening.

Oh yeah I’m all for free health plans trough the public system but as long as I’ve got a private insurance I’m using it.

Euge has an inhalor!

This is Eugene B Torres, he went missing for a week. He was suppose to spin with me, but did I hear from him? No. Well, finally I got him out of bed and in the gym. 15 min before the class started I met up with him and he had a cigarette in his mouth. I then point at it and he shruggs his shoulders and pulls his inhalor (asma folks) out as if to equalize the effect of cigs. He, he. He then asked me if I would be his moral support as he is getting married in a couple of months. And of course the hero that I am, I would love to see my friend, former alter boy in arms, get in shape for this. And see the pain as well. He’s getting married the 19th of August! And to make it more fun I will keep tabs on this blog, so everybody can follow on his excellent attempt to trim up. After an hour of spinning I asked:”You want a banana or an apple?”, Euge:”None. I’ll have a cigarette”! Lol! Never mind, he has an inhalor!Lol! He will trim up, I think. Please do comment on Euge’s mission!

Spinning – hurts like f…… hell!

Well, two years of stress and owning a restaurant has left its marks. About 15 Kilo’s of marks. And god knows I’ve tried to get in shape, but there has always been an excuse and I love food. Anyway, I’ve started spinning (I bought the gear 2 months ago) only to take days of Wednesdays and Sundays from it, 5 times a week. Goal: lose 15 Kg, lose my nickname fatboy & get more energy to serve my pregnant girlfriend! Anyway no more excuses, it hurts like f…… hell, but lets see if I can lose the fatboy name over the summer. Got my 10th spinning class in two weeks tonight and I dread it!!!!!
