And a lot of babies came to the world. 4 that I know of the last week and a half. Daniel B’s little brother had a girl, Nima had a little boy, Christian J from Detroit and finally Mars and Sanne saw little Micas for the first time Monday. Did I mention myself on the sixth? Well nothing was celebrated. Louie Torres the 1st, Steven the fourth and to you I’ve forgotten Happy Birthday!

…for making our wedding day (18th of August 07) superb. We will not get all lovey dovey about it and it’s hard not to! Christina and I were floating on pink sky for a good while after. We have gotten so many calls and responses, after the 18th, that moved us and made us happy. Everyone there made that day with us and we love you all!

I promised for those who couldn’t make it (Diana & Kenny, Iris, rest of the family that couldn’t make it) from abroad that I would make a summary on the blog (and update it regularly) and post some pics. For now some of the pics from the guest can be seen here:

The ceremony was excellent and Christina was beautiful. There was about 200 people at the church and everything went well. We had the lighting of the candle tradition with Dennis and Jessica helping out. For the witnesses we had Auntie Ludie and Moster Anette and then Gitte and Henrik to do the “cord and vail” tradition. Nobody had informed them what this was about so you can imagine how that looked! At the end when Father Patrick let us kiss (my best man had given me tic tacs and dared me) I offered Christina tic tacs. A good laugh and a great kiss. We then left the church as Mr. & Mrs. Soriano and was hailed with rice. We then got some photos taken with Paloma in the church garden before we got some pics taken at the harbour. Paloma spent the day and night with Steve’s Mom Jeanne, as we felt it would be too much for her. Thanks a million, Jeanne, for taking care of our baby!

We arrived an hour later at the party (Danish Design School), in Johans Mercedes Coupe from the 70’s, were the toastmaster was introduced (also the best man Was!). Was gave the instructions for the day and reminded my cousin Pam (from Dublin) about a thieving incident a year earlier (we pulled a good one on her) in front of the 175 guest.

Mario, owner of Quattro Fontane, made the buffet and it was brilliant, there was loads of food and everybody was happy and full:

  • Canalone
  • Lasagna
  • 2-3 pasta salads
  • 6 different Italian hams/sausages
  • Huge olives
  • Home made bread

And thats what I can remember.

In between meals the following held a speech:

  • Asger, The brides father
  • Jonathan, The groom
  • Was, The best man
  • Christina, The bride
  • Daniel B, Jonathans good friend
  • 2 boxes to be opened in a year (to comemmorate the day) was presented by Christinas friends

Everybody held an excellent speech. Asger was cool and calm and covered both families (even though he wasn’t in his comfort zone), I hadn’t prepared one but ended up talking for 15 minutes being witty (I had a list of 4 things Everybody, Inlaws, Mom and Pops and Christina) and most importantly telling my wife I love her, Was held a superb speech adding a few things to Father Patricks circle of love (He added sex 2 times a day) and reuniting me with Dino (his sons toy that I had a conversation with while I was pretty much intoxicated 8 years ago), surpise speech from the heart by the bride who let her husband know how much our liitle family means her and surprise speech 2 from Daniel who held a wonderful speech for us knowing that he definetely was not in his comfort zone.

In between the dinner and the speeches everyone would either bang on the cuttlery or stamp on the floor. Why? It’s a Danish wedding tradition! When you bang on the cuttlery the couple has to stand on the chairs and kiss and when everyone stamps on the floor, we have to get under the table and kiss. Up and down! Another tradition was held; when the groom leaves the room all the men can kiss the the bride until the groom returns and vice a versa! It was a long queu! Christinas Mom introduced another tradition to the folks abroad and that was the custom made songs. For every verse it was different people who would sing, for example the first verse would only have everybody over 30 sing, 2nd verse only women etc. All the traditions amused the Irish crowd and we expect them to bring them home and introduce them.

We also congratulated Jonathans Grandfather for his 80th birthday on the 3rd, Jonathans aunt for her 50th on the 13th, for Lorilee and Jonathan Hansens undercover wedding on the 9th and finally Henrik, a great FCK fan on his birthday that very day!

After the dinner the wedding cake made by Jessica was cut. There was a lot of controversy regarding the cake, talk went around that Jessica mighten be able to make a cake for a party of 175, but everybody loved it and it looked great!

Then DJ Lilyshield started the party and everybody was dancing and drinking. the whole night long, it was excellent there was 7-8 I know of that got sick, 3 of them cousins and one of them passed out. Everybody had a ball!

At around 0230 AM I tracked my dancing wife down and we were driven to the Scandinavia, where the staff there had us acommodated in a suite on the top floor with champagne, fruits and chocolate. We went straight to bed cause we were knackered what happened the next day we’ll keep for ourselves! We love you all and would again thank you all for the wonderful gifts. Thank you all for making this day unforgettable for us.
